Cookie Monster on Christmas Day...

I became a Cookie Monster over Christmas. I love Mema's tea cakes! I would walk around the house with a cookie in each hand.

Mommy and Daddy and I had a great Christmas in Georgia. You can see what Santa left us behind me. I like my Georgia Bull"puppy" sweatshirt the best!

Easter outfit, finally...

Well, we finally got to dress Will in his Easter best. He did not get to wear it on Easter b/c it snowed on that day, and as you can tell, it ain't exactly winter gear. Anyway, Will was very cute in his little boy blues and dress shoes.

It was so cold outside today! It snowed yesterday! So, I had to hunt for my eggs inside. I like my Easter Eggs.

College Football Finale...

Okay, I'm only going to kinda ride the fence. Here is my official prediction(s).
The National Championship game will go either of these two ways:
1. U(sic) of Florida over Ohio State in a close one.
-or- (the much? more likely outcome)
2. Ohio State has the Gators killed by halftime so that they can skin them and make them into boots to be worn at the coronation after the game.

My only concerns is that it has been sooo long (51 days-ish) since Ohio State last played. How is the offense going to be?

Baby's First Christmas...

Happy Reformation Day, and perhaps you are too old to go trick or treating...

Happy Reformation Day. 489 years ago Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenburg Chapel. His attack on the practice of and selling of indulgences and later refusal to recant opened the door for the Reformation of the church. So, here's to you Dr. Luther: thank you for bringing back the doctrine of justification by faith.

On other news, the rest of the world celebrates this day as Halloween. As most know, the traditional means of celebration includes silly disguises and going "trick-or-treating." All of this is well and good in its own respects, but for goodness sakes; if you are a teenager, then you are too old to be knocking on someone's door looking for free candy! Leave the festivities to the kids.

Saddle Sore, part 2...

With the busy weekend in Kansas over, we got up this morning and drove home to Texas. Fortunately, it was an uneventful drive. Just long. As you can see in this first picture, the Interstate was closed for good reason last week. There were several different places along the Interstate that were blackened by wildfires. Some of these charred areas were miles wide and extended far into the west and the east.

This bottom picture is of the World's Largest Ball of Twine in Cawker City, KS. Apparently it was 40'3" in circumference and over 14,500 pounds in 1988, as the sign says. I just had to stop and take a picture.

Greetings from Smith Center...

These are some of the sights from Smith Center, Kansas. The Geographical Center of the Lower 48 States is located a few miles east of Smith Center, therefore Smith Center refers to the region as the Heart of the Nation.

A long hard day in the saddle...

Yesterday was a really long day at the beginning of a really long weekend.

Valerie's little sister, Hilary, is getting married on Saturday up in Smith Center, Kansas. As you can probably imagine, North Central Kansas/South Central Nebraska is quite a few stone throws from Fort Worth. It is a really long drive any way that you cut it. However, that 9 hour drive can become unbearable when you throw in construction, detours, and slow traffic.

Yesterday was no exception...

I seem to never have a good experience driving across Oklahoma. Over the years I've suffered through several hours of construction back-ups and hundreds of miles of detours. One spring break, we shot the gap between two tornadoes. At Thanksgiving, I had to deal with a hazy and smoky 40-60 mph wind. Yesterday, they closed the interstate due to wildfires.

So, we did not quite make it to Smith Center last night. We ended up pulling off in McPherson, KS at about midnight. We finally made it safely home this morning.

I'll blog later about the activities surrounding the wedding. Right now, I'm thinking about watching 24 and taking a nap.
